Pregnancy Update: Almost 27 Weeks
1. Washing my feet, painting my toes, anything of that nature, is getting a little difficult. Not because of lack of flexibility, no, but because of the baby. That's right. I'm in full blown maternity clothes...sort of...loose dresses work fine, but the maternity pants are still quite big. I just deal. I told Jer half jokingly last night, "My feet may be smelling for the next 2.5 months." Jer promptly volunteered to wash them for me. That's love. :)
2. Anytime you wish to give me vanilla frozen yogurt with mini M&Ms, I will take it. Don't even bother with regular sized M&Ms.
3. Baby Wood is kicking up a storm on a regular schedule, for the most part. Best times to feel/see: Early morning before getting out of bed, after breakfast, after lunch, around 4:00ish, around dinner, and while I'm laying down getting tired for bed at night.
4. Speaking of bedtime, I usually get a good 5-6 hours of sleep, wake up, can't get comfortable, maybe fall back asleep before having to get up at 6:20 for work. This kid must be training me.
5. Nausea has tried coming back, but hopefully, I've moved past it. Backpain is practically constant...to be expected, I suppose.
6. I am so excited mentally to get stuff done: The window sills need cleaning before fall, disinfecting all surfaces inside, getting together things to donate to a battered women's and children's shelter, Christmas shopping, buying a recliner for the nursery, cleaning/organizing/fixing up the nursery, finding an eco-friendly mop (our old one started smoking last week...), and just the regular house maintenance. The thing is, by the time I get home from a 9-10 hour work day, I'm exhausted. So...none of these things have been done yet. Jer has been wonderful, but he threw his back out and can't move much, so that's out.
7. We're pretty sure we found a sitter for Baby Wood for when I return from maternity leave. I attended the Leave Meeting for the county, and if the baby comes on time, November 23, then I would return to work on January 18, for an 8 week leave period. The sitter is from our church, works at the church nursery, has 2 children of her own, and based on briefly meeting her once at a Girls' Night and our phone conversation this afternoon, I'm thinking she will fit in quite nicely. We still need to meet some more, nail down some details, etc., but she comes highly recommended from another friend, so it's looking promising.
8. I'm still occasionally having some problems with low blood pressure and blood sugar. I feel like I've been eating fine, but after my last episode earlier this week, the doctor said I'm not eating enough or as frequently as I should, even if I don't feel hungry. This means I now have a desk drawer filled with applesauce, almonds, crackers, and a blueberry Nutrigrain bar. Hopefully this lasts. :) It's a little difficult to adjust myself to eat when I'm not feeling hungry, but I follow orders. :)
In other news...
Jeremy's birthday was August 20. He took the day off work, ran some errands, and later we went to Provino's for dinner with Mom and Lindsay, then a Gwinnett Braves game just down the road. A friend from church snagged a suite from work for the Alaska mission team folks and their families, so we got in for free, plus free food. Oh, and, as always, a fly ball tried to kill me. Even from a suite. Never fails. I made a lemon blueberry cake (from scratch!) with whipped cream topping for his birthday cake, which we all shared at dinner and the game. I got the recipe from Pinterest, and it was fabulous. :) I also got him a few random things- new bookbag (he takes one every trip, near or far, and as a result, it has several holes and the zipper broke, so I got him a new one), a new journal to use at his next mission trip (TBD), Airheads, pair of shorts he desperately needed, and Backpacker magazine.
School for me has been slowly improving. I'm not used to 3rd grade behaviors yet, and there is definitely some tension and low morale amongst the teachers with all the new county and local changes, but things are better than the first week for sure. We are almost finished with the third week, and it's better, because now I am actually teaching some things. :)
When things around the house look a little more put together, I'll post some pictures. We've been doing some rearranging of furniture to accommodate Grandpa Clark's bed and such, so things are still in minor disarray.
