A Couple of Pictures
We went to the U2 concert to celebrate our anniversary, and we double dated with some friends to do a zip line tour at Historic Banning Mills. Both of which were completely worth the trip.
I Caved
After reading so many friends' families' blogs, I decided (while Jeremy is still sleeping and while the water heater guy is replacing our water heater) to create a blog for our family and friends.
Quick refresher: I teach 4th grade in Gwinnett County (LOVIN' IT), and Jeremy just left a job as a sports writer (with good reasons) to work at Taco Mac full time and have a flexible schedule so that he can officiate- his ultimate dream. In June, we moved into a wonderful house with the intent on doing a little work to update it, and then sell it in a few years and use the equity to build/buy a dream home. Where? In Idaho, hopefully. We are nature people.
In the next two months, we are doing some pretty major updates to the house. Our original plan was to get a new HVAC system for the upstairs, and new windows- all of this in the Fall. Now, our plan has slightly changed, because our water heater died. It would cost nearly $400 to fix it, or $800 to replace. Our guy explained how the previous owners installed an already dying water heater illegally (it was electric, and probably bought at a used appliance store for less than $100.) Because we would need to replace it in the next year or so anyway, we opted to just replace it now, with a gas heater. (The house originally had a gas heater.) So...home owners have lots of costs, sometimes unexpectedly. That's what savings are for!
As my kids (I have 21 currently) say something funny, I will post. At work, I send out an email with "Kids Say the Darndest" as the heading. Kids Say the Darndest:

Me: I used to read the Box Car Children when I was in 3rd grade! I loved that series!
Student: When was that? 19 something?
Never have I ever felt old until that moment. Yes, I was in 3rd grade in 1993, which makes me 25 now. So, yes, it was "19 something." Remember, my students were all born in the "2000s." A WHOLE new century.
